I am an author of Christian historical fiction for children. My first two books are based on the lives of the orphan train riders at the turn of the twentieth century. “The Promise” and “Oklahoma Bound”. The third in the trilogy, “Forever Home”, will be out this year.
My goal – to inspire children with the loving care God shows toward us all.
I grew up in New England, living in Vermont and Connecticut. My childhood was pretty much an idealistic existence, playing baseball with the neighborhood kids, skating on the pond behind our house and exploring the woods looking for ‘jack in the pulpit’ and ‘lady slippers’. Kind of like “Leave it to Beaver” (If you’re old enough to remember.) I was the female version but that’s another story.
My parents had four children and three foster children. Two were able to return to their mother but one little girl was adopted by us as a very young child. Being the youngest and handicapped, she became the family’s favored child.
I married a young elevator mechanic who had a love of learning about God. After the Navy, he decided to use his VA benefits and arrived at the Bible college I was attending. A year later we married, had three children, then God called us into ministry in New England. Our three children have since blessed us with ten grandchildren.
Six years ago, my husband and I returned to his home state of Oklahoma. We pastor a rural church in the western part of the state. He preaches and I continue to work extensively with children of all ages.
